PROJECT DETAILS

About the app

Colledia News and Sports System is an award-winning digital media infrastructure created by BBC Technology that supports real-time and pre-edited sports and news digital production and playout.

It solves the challenge of producing news programs to tight schedules using live feeds, filed reports, prerecorded interviews, and interspersed with archive footage, seamlessly integrating the entire production process.

In this project, I created the Colledia System Administration for the Colledia News and Sports System.

My Role

Full ownership and exclusive responsibility for the entire project, including requirements, design and development.

Design Process

Analyzed requirements and technical specs
Created features and information architecture
Translated specs into UI and interaction designs
Created interactive prototype using HTML, CSS, DHTML, and Javascript (see link below)
Went through a few design iterations based on the Product Manager and System Architect’s feedback
Developed the entire system in collaboration with back-end engineers using Java/EE

Development Process

Developed the entire system in collaboration with back-end engineers using Java/EE:

Converted HTML/CSS prototype to JSP pages
Added API calls to the back-end to get data from the Oracle database
Developed the application using Java/J2EE and Struts Framework
Performed unit and system testing
Worked with Technical Writer to create full documentation of the system
Received sign-off from Product Manager and System Architect
